With summer finally here, I was thrilled when Marks & Spencer Home asked me to pick my favourite pieces from their SS19 range to style up my outdoor living space. It was my birthday yesterday, so this little entertaining corner at the end of our garden seemed the perfect place for a bit of summer fun (and cake!)
I was instantly drawn towards the ‘Sun Baked’ range, a vibrant collection of safari animal themed picnic ware and soft furnishings. The designs feature elephants, tigers, zebras and flamingos. I have mixed and matched this collection with some other bright colourful pieces from the home section, including cushions, throws, festoon lights and some flamingo style party pieces.
To add some softness and colour to my rattan sofa, I chose some striking cushions. The Zebra and Tiger designs match the crockery perfectly. Both are backed with velvet, and feature beautifully embroidered animal designs, adorned with vibrant floral details in an artistic mixture of print and stitching.
I love to mix and match ranges, so I’ve added in this abstract leaf cushion. Again, a gorgeous mixture of print and stitching, it features a timeless design of tropical leaves.
Throws are great way of transforming any chair or sofa, the yellow Elsie tassel throw has a diamond textured pattern and edged a crochet style tassel trim. The Ochre square stitched patterned throw also features tassels. Both of these are large enough to be be used elsewhere around the home.
The Sun Baked picnic collection features four animal designs across the range, these four stunning illustrations compliment each other in style and colour. They are made of hard-wearing melamine and each set features all four designs. There are dinner plates, side plates, pasta bowls and cereal bowls.
The range also features a two-tiered cake stand that rather handily flat packs for storage. It features the jazzy zebra and flamboyant flamingo patterns, even Missy Meow (my very own little tiger) was impressed by this!
Theres also a chip and dip platter featuring all four designs, and I even spied a stunning pink salad bowl which I’ve now got my eye on.
I think the striking yellow elephant tray is my favourite piece, I shall be using this all year round in the home.
For a bit of added birthday fun, I also picked up these flamingo themed party pieces. The straws, napkins, picks and garland fit with the ‘Go Wild’ theme perfectly. The flamingo playing cards will be coming on holiday with us too.
Having children and a slate patio, the flamingo jug and matching glasses give you an extra piece of mind when carrying things to and from the garden.
All our made from safe acrylic, they can be used for picnics and camping trips too. The tumblers feature the tiger, the wine glasses are adorned with the zebra pattern, and the hi-balls are decorated with the elephant.
Whether it be a mocktail or a cocktail, your summer drink of choice will look stunning in one of these glasses.
I hope this post inspires you to go a little bit wild and style up a safari-themed area in your garden or home.
Until next time
